Every day 10 million seats go empty on the roads

What's the problem?

Road transport is one of the biggest sources of pollution in the UK, contributing to poor air quality and climate change, not to mention congestion and all that noise! Add to that the fact that oil is not a finite resource and, just like a pint of beer, the more we drink, the faster it will run out. The price of petrol seems to creep up every day, so it's worth thinking about saving fuel in terms of the environment and your pocket.

So What Are We Doing?

We are making steps to reduce our business mileage by holding conference calls rather than travelling to meetings, where possible. With today's technology it's easy to do. We are also rolling out a 'travel plan' scheme, to bring colleagues together to lift share. You might also want to take advantage of our bike loans – we'll give you an interest free loan to buy a bike to ride to work – and we'll also give you £50 towards it.

And What Can You Do?

Don't be lazy! The simplest way to reduce your carbon miles is to walk where possible. Don't be tempted to drive to the shops – take a stroll and reward yourself with a chocolate bar without feeling guilty. There are plenty of other ways too, go shopping with friends – it'll be more fun - and share a lift with a work colleague and have a gossip on the way to work.
